When did you go, or should I say, return natural? Officially on Sept 21, 2016 when my bestie Brandy cut off my relaxed hair.
Why did you decide to go natural? I started getting my hair braided back to back and it naturally just grew out. So I figured, why not give it a try?
Were you a professional when you made that decision? I’m always a professional ; )
,How do you feel natural hair is received in your profession? It depends… as a person who works all over the US, I think it varies by region and the people you work with and their experiences. In general, as long as you look nice, I don’t think anyone really cares, just remain a professional. However, I personally feel it’s inappropriate to show up with your vacation braids on a client site. I like to keep my styles to something that can be pulled back.
Did you big chop? Yes
Did you have any reservations about wearing your natural hair? If so, why? Every single time. It never looks the way I want it to and I’m used to having a certain je ne sais quois. Additionally, I don’t have the time and patience to work with my hair every day. I like to keep it simple and I haven’t found a simple natural style where I still feel like me.
Do you currently have any hair goals? Just to have moisturized hair. Consistently moisturized hair.
What are your favorite hairstyles for work? Bubble braids, up or down.
What are your favorite hairstyles for play? Bubble braids, up or down.
Do you have a hair crush? Beyonce.
What are your favorite or staple products? To be determined.
Has your natural hair influenced any other aspects of your life? No, but life definitely influences my hair. My hair will appropriately match whatever is in my calendar for that week. With bubble braids I can have the most fun, but certain vacays/events will bring out different hairstyles.
