Name: Imani Jere’ Waters
Hometown: Valdosta GA
Undergraduate University: Florida A&M University, B.S. 2017
Law School: Florida A&M University College of Law, J.D 2020
About the Grad: I am a law clerk currently preparing to take the July 2020 Florida Bar Exam. I graduated May 2, 2020. However, my school is offering a virtual ceremony May 9, 2020. I obtained a Juris Doctor Degree. I was inspired by the discrepancies in the justice system to obtain my J.D.
I plan on passing the Florida Bar Exam and working as an Associate Attorney practicing Federal Employment Law, Bankruptcy Law, and Real Estate Law. The most challenging aspect of retaining my degree was the countless hours of studying, and the fact that there is only one exam to determine your knowledge.
This degree means a lot to me because I am excited to assist others in their future legal endeavors. If anyone is planning to obtain a law degree, I would encourage them to prepare themselves mentally, physically, and financially. I would advise family and friends who have loved ones pursuing this degree to be supportive and patient because this degree is very time consuming. I am a spiritual person and I strongly believe I could not have pursued this degree without the help of God, Family, and Friends.
Covid 19 has turned my life upside down. I started law school during a hurricane and I am ending it in a global pandemic. I have been forced to work and comprehend from the confines of my home, with numerous distractions. Nevertheless, the Class of 2020 is resilient and WE MADE IT. Thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences.
Thank you for sharing Imani!! Congratulations!!
